A motor tanker carrying nearly 1,000 tons of coconut oil hit a temporary steel bridge on the Samal-Davao connector project currently under construction on Samal Island.
Initial inspection of the area showed no signs of an oil spill, but the steel bridge was damaged, according to a GMA Integrated News Bulletin on Sunday night. Further details were not immediately available.
Authorities are now looking into the cause and scope of the collision, and are now monitoring the area for signs of a possible oil spill. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA Integrated News
